Nobody Told Me Pregnancy Would Feel Like This

Pregnancy is often described as magical. Glowing skin. Constant joy. Instant connection.

But for many people, that’s not the full story.

Pregnancy can feel confusing, uncomfortable, emotional, and overwhelming — sometimes all in the same day. And if that’s your experience, nothing is wrong with you.

One moment you feel excited about your baby. The next, you feel irritated, anxious, or suddenly very emotional. Both can exist at the same time.

What people rarely talk about is that pregnancy isn’t only about growing a baby. It’s also about your identity changing. Your body changes. Your sense of control shifts. Your emotions may feel stronger than usual.

You might find yourself thinking:

  • “Shouldn’t I be happier?”

  • “Why do I feel anxious when everything is okay?”

  • “Is this normal?”

Yes. It is.

Hormones are changing rapidly. Your nervous system is adapting. Your brain is preparing for caregiving. That’s a huge internal shift.

You don’t need to love every moment of pregnancy to be a good parent. You don’t need to feel grateful all the time.

You’re allowed to feel exactly how you feel.
